Understanding Colour-Changing Fairground Lights

Auto RGB — Simplest Option

Pre-programmed with built-in colour effects. Just connect to power and they run automatically — no controller required. Ideal for straightforward installations where dynamic colour is needed without programming complexity. Available as a ready-to-run 10-pack with PSU included.

Pixel Cabochons — Individually Addressable

Each cabochon can be controlled independently, allowing chase effects, colour sequences and patterns across the full installation. Requires a compatible pixel controller. Available in 42mm (12V), 46mm (24V) and 60mm (24V) sizes — choose based on your fitting size and voltage system.

RGB DMX-SPI Cabochons — Position-Based Effects

Plug-and-play RGB cabochons that use their position in the string to generate automatic effects — no pixel addressing required. Compatible with standard DMX systems via the LTech signal decoder. A good middle ground between auto RGB and fully programmable pixel.

Controllers

The Micro Pixel YCP Controller suits smaller installations needing simple colour selection and effects. The K-8000C is a professional 8-output programmable controller for larger or complex pixel systems. The LTech DMX-SPI decoder connects existing DMX systems to pixel LED strings. The T-1000N is used for writing DMX addresses to individual fixtures.

Power Supplies & Cabling

MEAN WELL PSUs in 60W, 100W, 150W and 200W options cover installations of all sizes. Extension cables and power injection cables are available for both 3-pin pixel and 4-pin RGB systems. The SP901E signal amplifier maintains signal integrity across longer runs.
