LED Modules

LED modules provide compact, powerful lighting for illuminated signage, channel letters, lightboxes and display lighting. Our range includes high-performance LED modules designed for reliable brightness, easy installation and long service life in signage and commercial lighting applications.

LED modules are commonly used where even illumination is required across signage panels, lettering or display surfaces. Each module contains multiple LEDs mounted on a small board, allowing installers to position lighting precisely behind signage faces or within lightboxes.

Most LED modules operate on 12V constant-voltage systems and are designed to be spaced evenly across the sign or display surface to create consistent illumination. They are widely used in shop signage, illuminated lettering, exhibition displays and retail lightboxes where reliable lighting and simple installation are essential.

LED modules are typically powered using compatible LED drivers and installed using suitable cables and connectors. For linear lighting applications, installers often choose LED strip lights as an alternative lighting solution.

LED Modules

Frequently Asked Questions

What are LED modules used for?
LED modules are small, pre-wired lighting units used in signs, built-up letters, lightboxes, fascias and retail displays. They provide bright, even backlighting and are ideal for both indoor and outdoor signage.
Are LED modules dimmable?
Yes. Most LED modules are dimmable when paired with a compatible LED driver or dimmer. Options include TRIAC, 0-10V, PWM or DMX dimming depending on your setup.
Do LED modules need a specific power supply?
Yes. LED modules require a constant-voltage LED driver matched to their rated voltage, typically 12V or 24V. Leave at least 20 percent extra wattage for safe and stable operation.
Are LED modules waterproof?
We supply indoor IP20 modules and outdoor-rated IP65 or IP67 modules. Choose an IP rating suitable for your environment, especially for external signage or damp locations.
How do I choose the right LED module?
Choose based on your sign depth and brightness needs. Mini modules suit shallow letters, wide-angle or high-output modules work well for lightboxes, and waterproof modules are ideal for external signs.
Can I mix different types of LED modules in one sign?
It is not recommended. Mixing modules with different wattages, beam angles or colour temperatures can cause uneven lighting. Use one consistent module type throughout the installation.

How to choose the right LED modules

LED modules are designed to provide even illumination for signage, channel letters and lightboxes. They are commonly used where flexible placement and consistent brightness are required across a sign face or display panel.

Module Type Best For Key Benefits
Standard LED Modules Lightboxes and signage panels Reliable illumination and simple installation
High-output LED Modules Large signage and deep lightboxes Higher brightness with wider light spread
Wide-angle LED Modules Shallow sign boxes and channel letters Improved light coverage across signage surfaces
Waterproof LED Modules Outdoor signage installations Weather-resistant lighting for exterior signs

Spacing LED modules correctly

LED modules are normally spaced evenly across the sign or display surface to achieve consistent brightness. Module spacing depends on the brightness of the module and the depth of the sign box. Wider beam modules allow greater spacing while maintaining even illumination.

Powering LED modules

Most LED modules operate on 12V constant-voltage systems and require a suitable power supply matched to the total wattage of the installation. Installers typically calculate the total load of the modules being used and allow spare capacity in the driver to maintain reliable operation.

Calculating driver capacity

To select the correct power supply, add together the wattage of all modules in the installation. Installers often allow around 20% spare capacity in the driver to improve reliability and extend the lifespan of the power supply.

Complete your LED lighting system

LED modules are normally used alongside compatible LED drivers and suitable cables and connectors. For linear lighting installations, LED strip lights are often used as an alternative lighting solution.

LED modules are widely used in illuminated signage, retail lightboxes, exhibition displays and architectural signage where consistent lighting and simple installation are essential.
