Suitable Applications:

High-rated clear twin-core cable for low-voltage LED installations where wiring needs to stay virtually invisible — connecting individual sign letters, LED modules, neon flex sections, and LED strip runs.

  • Amps: 8
  • Cable Size: 0.5mm

0.5mm Clear Twin LED Cable – High-Current, Nearly Invisible Wiring

You've built the sign, fitted the LEDs, and everything looks perfect — until thick, dark cables between the letters ruin the whole effect. This 0.5mm² clear twin-core cable solves that problem. The transparent double-insulated PVC coating makes wiring practically disappear against acrylic, glass, and light-coloured backgrounds, while the 8A rating gives you serious headroom for higher-power installations.

Here's how it works: Two cores of 19-strand tinned copper sit side by side in a figure-of-eight clear PVC sheath. The stranded construction makes it flexible enough to route through tight spaces and around curves, while the tinned copper resists corrosion and makes soldering quick and clean. At just 2.13mm × 3.66mm, it tucks away neatly behind LED modules, LED strip, and neon flex without adding bulk.

Why it matters: Standard cables are either visible (black or white PVC) or underpowered (thinner clear cables rated at just 3A). This cable gives you the best of both worlds — the near-invisibility of clear insulation with an 8A current capacity that handles demanding LED loads without overheating or voltage issues.

Key Advantages:

  • 8A current rating – Handles higher-power LED installations without breaking a sweat, far beyond what standard 3A clear cables can manage
  • Clear double-insulated PVC – Virtually disappears against acrylic sign faces, glass panels, and light backgrounds where dark cables would be an eyesore
  • 19-strand tinned copper (19/0.185TS) – Highly flexible for routing through channels and around corners, with tinning that prevents oxidation and speeds up soldering
  • Figure-of-eight profile (2.13mm × 3.66mm) – Ultra-slim cross-section fits into tight sign constructions and channels without pinching or snagging
  • Low smoke PVC insulation – Enhanced safety for enclosed installations like sign cabinets and display cases

Perfect Applications:

  • Illuminated signage – Connecting individual channel letters, built-up letters, or acrylic sign faces where cables bridge visible gaps between LED-lit sections and need to stay hidden in plain sight
  • LED strip and neon flex installations – Running power between LED strip sections or neon flex segments on transparent or light-coloured surfaces where standard cables would spoil the finish

Also ideal for retail display lighting, exhibition stands, museum cases, architectural accent lighting, and any installation where cable visibility would compromise the aesthetic.

Product Supply Options

Available by the metre for smaller jobs or on full 200m reels for trade quantities. Orders over 1 metre are supplied as a single continuous length (up to 50m maximum per continuous run).

✅ What You Receive:

  • 0.5mm² twin-core clear cable – Cut to your specified length in metres, or supplied on a full 200m reel
  • Continuous lengths – Multi-metre orders are sent uncut, so you get one usable run rather than individual pieces
  • Figure-of-eight profile – Both cores clearly identifiable within the twin sheath for correct polarity wiring

❌ What's Not Included:

  • LED driver or power supply – You'll need an appropriate LED driver or power supply for your installation
  • Connectors – Compatible with UB2A, UR2, UY2, and Wago lever connectors — available in our connectors & cables collection
  • Cable preparation – Supplied unstripped; strip and tin ends on site as needed

What Is Twin-Core Figure-of-Eight Cable?

Twin-core cable has two separate conductors running side by side in a single sheath — one for positive, one for negative. The "figure of eight" name comes from the cross-section shape, where the two insulated cores are bonded together with a thin web of PVC between them. This makes the cable easy to split at the ends for termination while keeping things tidy along the run.

In Plain English: This is a flat, two-wire clear cable about the width of a matchstick. It carries power to your LEDs and back, and you can barely see it once installed.

Technical Specifications

  • Voltage Rating: 300V
  • Outer Dimensions: 2.13mm × 3.66mm
  • Insulation Colour: Clear
  • Insulation Material: Double-insulated PVC, low smoke
  • Construction: Figure of eight (twin bonded cores)
  • Temperature Rating: Up to 200°C
  • Compliance: RoHS and REACH compliant
  • Dielectric Strength: Excellent

Installation & Compatibility

  • Connector compatibility: Fits UB2A, UR2, UY2, and Wago lever connectors for tool-free termination
  • Soldering: Tinned copper strands accept solder readily — ideal for direct connections to LED strip contact pads and module leads
  • Splitting: Figure-of-eight profile separates cleanly at termination points by pulling the two cores apart
  • Cable management: Slim profile routes easily through sign cabinets, aluminium channels, and behind mounting surfaces

Quality Notes

  • Double insulation: Both individual cores are insulated, then wrapped together in the outer clear sheath — providing two layers of electrical protection
  • Tinned copper benefits: The tin coating prevents copper oxidation over time, maintaining low resistance and reliable connections for years
  • For high-current applications: While rated to 8A, always calculate your total LED load and keep within safe margins — our team can help with sizing if needed
