How do I calculate the correct driver size?
Add up your total LED load in watts and add 20% headroom. Example: 60W of LEDs requires a 75-80W driver minimum. Never run a driver at 100% capacity for long-term reliability.
What's the difference between constant voltage and constant current drivers?
Constant voltage drivers (12V/24V) are for LED strips, neon flex, and modules. Constant current drivers (350mA/700mA) are for LED chips and COB arrays. Using the wrong type will damage your LEDs.
Which IP rating driver do I need?
IP20 for indoor use in dry locations. IP65 for damp locations or outdoor use under cover. IP67 for direct outdoor exposure. The driver's IP rating should match or exceed your LED product's rating.
Can I use one driver for multiple LED strips?
Yes, if the total wattage does not exceed 80% of the driver capacity and all strips use the same voltage. Wire strips in parallel, not series. Use appropriate gauge wire for the total current draw.
What's TRIAC vs 0-10V vs DALI dimming?
TRIAC works with standard wall dimmers, ideal for residential. 0-10V requires separate control wires, common in commercial settings. DALI is digital addressable dimming for smart building systems. Choose based on your control requirements.
How many LED strips can be powered by one power supply?
Work to about 80% of the PSU's rated watts (keep 20% headroom). Quick rule: usable watts = PSU rating x 0.8. Your total strip watts must be less than or equal to usable watts. Feed long runs in parallel and respect each strip's max run length to avoid voltage drop.
