LED fairground lights add eye‑catching sparkle to amusement signage, wedding décor and corporate events. This guide shows the equipment required and walk‑throughs the wiring process for both cabochon and golf‑ball bulbs.

What you need
Gather the following items:
- Cabochon or golf‑ball LED bulbs in your chosen colours
- Matching bases / caps (cabochon) or face nuts (golf‑ball)
- Lamp holders with securing nuts
- Cable – typically 1.5 mm²; thicker for larger signs
- Power supply unit (PSU) with suitable wattage
- Adaptor and 2‑port lever clamps
You can buy components individually or choose a complete fairground‑light kit.
How to wire cabochon bulbs
- Drill 14 mm holes for E10 or 20 mm for E14 cabochons.
- Push a lamp holder through each hole (material max 10 mm thick; rebate thicker panels).
- Screw the cabochon base onto the holder until snug.
- Insert the LED into the base and tighten.
- Fit the cabochon cap.
- Lay the supply wires into the grooves on the holder back.
- Screw the securing nut to pierce and clamp the conductors.
- Use 2‑port lever clamps to join strip wiring to the PSU’s colour‑coded outputs.
- Connect the brown (live) and blue (neutral) PSU leads to a 3‑pin plug. If unsure, consult a qualified electrician.
How to wire golf‑ball bulbs
The steps mirror the cabochon method with two differences:
- After inserting the lamp holder, screw on the face nut instead of a cabochon base.
- Screw in the glass golf‑ball bulb (no cap required).
Key factors before you start
- Project size – larger signs need heavier‑gauge cable and extra build time.
- Indoor vs outdoor – choose waterproof pixel cabochons for exterior installs.
- Colour & effects – RGB or pixel bulbs allow chases and fades; static designs can use standard E10/E14.
- Electrical safety – mains wiring should be tested by a qualified electrician.
