How do I choose the right LED strip voltage (12V or 24V)?
Choose 12V LED strips for shorter runs and compact installs; choose 24V for longer lengths with reduced voltage drop and fewer power feeds. Both require a constant-voltage driver matched to the strip voltage.
Can I cut LED strip lights to size?
Yes, LED strips can be cut at designated cutting marks (usually every 25mm, 50mm, or 100mm depending on the strip). Look for the scissor symbols or copper pads. Always cut through the centre of the copper pads for proper connection.
How many metres can I run in one continuous length?
With power attached from one end, typically 5m for 12V strips and 10m for 24V strips without significant brightness drop. For longer runs, power from both ends or inject power at intervals. COB strips may have different limits - check your specific product.
Are LED strip lights waterproof?
Yes - but only if you choose the correct IP rating. IP65 (silicone coating) for bathrooms or covered outdoor areas. IP67 or IP68 (silicone sleeve) for direct weather exposure or underwater use. Higher IP ratings may slightly reduce brightness.
Which IP rating do I need indoors?
