Enameled Copper Wire – Professional Internal Wiring for LED Strip Installations
When you're building illuminated signs, channel letters, or display panels with LED strip lighting, you need to create soldered connections between LED sections. This ultra-thin enameled copper wire is specifically designed for making those internal electrical connections quickly and invisibly. At just 0.48mm diameter, it hides completely inside channels and behind LED strips whilst the enamel insulation and pre-tinned ends make installation fast and worry-free.
Here's how it works: This is connection wire that you solder between LED strip sections, modules, or components – it's not solder itself. The thin enamel coating insulates the copper conductor, which means wires can touch each other without short-circuiting – a massive advantage when working in tight spaces with multiple connections. The pre-tinned ends have solder already applied at the factory, so you can position the wire and solder immediately. No scraping, no prep work, just quick, reliable connections.
Why it matters: In professional sign making and LED installations, you need internal wiring that's invisible, reliable, and won't short circuit when wires bundle together in tight spaces. Standard PVC-insulated wire is too bulky and shows through translucent faces. This enameled copper wire disappears behind your LED strips, the enamel coating prevents shorts even when wires touch, and the pre-tinned ends save you preparation time on every single connection.
Key Advantages:
-
Enamel Insulation Prevents Shorts – The polyurethane enamel coating electrically isolates each wire, so multiple wires can touch or bundle together without risk of short circuits in tight sign enclosures
-
Pre-Tinned Ends – Factory-applied solder coating on both ends means instant soldering readiness. No need to strip, scrape, or prepare the wire – just heat and connect
-
Ultra-Thin 0.48mm Diameter – Slim enough to hide completely behind LED strips, inside shallow channels, or tucked into tight corners where bulky wire creates visible lumps
-
Pure Copper Core – Genuine 99.9% copper conductor (not copper-coated aluminium) ensures efficient electrical transfer with minimal resistance and heat generation
-
2A Current Rating – Ideal for distributing power loads across multiple connection points, preventing any single wire from carrying excessive current in enclosed sign structures
Perfect Applications:
-
LED Strip Signs – Create clean internal connections between LED strip sections in channel letters, lightboxes, and illuminated signs where wiring must remain hidden behind the strips and multiple wires run close together
-
Display Panel Wiring – Connect multiple LED strip runs across exhibition displays, retail windows, and architectural features without bulky cables showing through translucent materials or worrying about wires touching and shorting
Also ideal for LED neon flex internal connections, shopfront signage fabrication, trade show displays, cabinet lighting installations, and any LED project where internal soldered connections need to be discreet, reliable, and properly load-managed.
Flexible Length Options:
Supplied in three convenient pre-cut lengths (2cm, 5cm, 10cm), but you can cut these wires to any custom length you need for your specific installation. When you cut the wire, the new ends will expose raw enameled copper. You have two options: apply heat directly and the solder will burn through the enamel (quick but slightly messy), or strip the enamel and tin the end properly for a cleaner, more professional connection.

Understanding Enameled Copper Wire
Enameled copper wire (also called magnet wire) is electrical connection wire with a special construction. The ultra-thin copper conductor is coated with polyurethane enamel insulation, which keeps it flexible and electrically isolated whilst maintaining an incredibly slim profile. This enamel coating is the key advantage – it prevents short circuits even when multiple wires touch or bundle together in tight spaces, which is essential when working inside sign enclosures with limited room.
"Pre-tinned" means both ends are factory-coated with solder – when you heat them with your soldering iron, they bond immediately to your LED strip contact pads or components without any preparation.
Important: This is connection wire that you solder between LED components to create electrical connections. It is not solder wire (the type you feed from a spool whilst soldering). You'll still need regular solder wire for the soldering process.
Cutting to Custom Lengths: While supplied in set lengths, you can cut this wire to any size you need. When cut, the new ends expose raw enameled copper. For quick connections, apply heat and solder directly – the heat will burn through the enamel. For cleaner, more professional joints, strip the enamel from the end first and tin it properly before soldering.
In Plain English: Think of this as ultra-thin electrical wire (about as thick as a thick human hair) with a special coating that stops it short-circuiting when wires touch. The ends come pre-treated so they solder instantly. Perfect for making invisible internal connections in LED strip signs where space is tight, wires bunch together, and aesthetics matter.

Installation & Compatibility
- Application: For making soldered connections between LED strip sections, modules, and components
- Soldering Method: Use a temperature-controlled soldering iron at 300-350°C. Apply heat to the pre-tinned end and the LED strip contact pad – the existing solder coating will melt and bond to create the connection
- Compatible Systems: Works with all 12V and 24V LED strip lights and LED neon flex requiring internal soldered connections
- Connection Points: Solder directly to copper contact pads on LED strips at designated cutting points
- Load Management: Use multiple wires to distribute power loads across your installation. Keep each wire under 2A to prevent overheating in enclosed structures
- Short Circuit Protection: The enamel insulation allows wires to touch without short-circuiting, making it safe for bundled wiring in tight enclosures
Quality Notes
- Pure Copper Construction: Genuine copper provides superior electrical conductivity compared to copper-coated aluminium, reducing voltage loss and heat generation
- Enamel Insulation: The polyurethane coating is durable and flexible, providing reliable electrical isolation even when wires are bent, bundled, or routed through tight spaces
- Professional Soldering Required: This product requires proper soldering technique. Good solder joints are essential for reliable, long-lasting connections
- For Sign Makers & Fabricators: Ideal for professionals creating channel letters, lightboxes, and illuminated displays where clean internal wiring and short-circuit prevention are essential
- Load Distribution: Using multiple 2A connections is safer than overloading single connection points with 5A+ in enclosed sign structures
