What colour options are available for white LED Neon Flex?

Normally, the colour options for LED Neon Flex are between Warm White and Pure White – these are the most common shades our customers choose and each offer different benefits.

Warm White

Warm White is often referred to as ‘soft white’. It’s important to remember that the term ‘warm’ doesn’t mean that the LED light will be warm to the touch, it simply denotes an element of warmth to the shade of white the LED emits.

Warm White emits a slightly yellow light, similar to the lighting offered by standard lightbulbs that you might find in your home. Warm White provides a cosy, warm glow, making homes or even commercial settings feel more homely.

In a commercial setting, Warm White can provide cosiness to an otherwise harsh setting. For example, a café, bakery or bookshop may need to create a warmer vibe than a harsh commercial unit can offer.

When looking at Warm White, the technical specification is anywhere between 2700k-3200k. It is important to note that numbers lower on the scale denote warmer tones.

Pure White

Pure White is often referred to as ‘bright white’ or ‘commercial white’ and is typically used, a you may have guessed, in commercial settings or for highlighting areas in the home.

Pure White is excellent for creating a clean and trendy feel to retail environments, studios, hotels and office spaces. Pure White is generally considered a brighter than the other colours on offer.

The technical specification for Pure White is anything from 5000k-6500k, again noting that the lower the value, the warmer the light will appear.

What is the difference between Warm White and Pure White LED Neon Flex?

There are several differences between Warm White and Pure White, both in the colour they emit and how they are commonly used. Warm White is the most popular choice for the home, as it provides a feeling of warmth and comfort and Warm White LED lighting emits a similar colour to the halogen bulbs we typically use already.

However, when it comes to commercial settings, Pure White is a popular choice. It’s more suited to lighting a hotel, shop or restaurant as it creates a crisp, modern feel. Light from Pure White LED Neon Flex often appears to be brighter than its Warm White counterpart but you should make your choice depending on the shade and atmosphere you wish to create, not the level of brightness.

Which colour should I choose?

There are no set rules on which shade to choose but we can provide some guidance on which you might prefer to create your desired lighting effect.

If you light the warm glow of a conventional home lamp, it is likely that you will prefer LED Neon Flex in Warm White with a value on the Kelvin scale of between 2700k to 3000k. This is the most popular choice for using LED Neon Flex in the home.

However, many people prefer the modern, crisp feel of cool white lights, which contain more blue and look brighter than warm white lights.

If you are using LED Neon Flex in a commercial setting, the colour temperature can be important and will play a huge role in the atmosphere of the room or building. For example, cool white lights make retail stores look bright and crisp. However, if you were to choose lighting for a bakery, freshly baked bread might look more appealing under a warm light.

What can White LED Neon Flex be used for?

LED Neon Flex provides a new and innovative solution to LED lighting and can be used for many applications and purposes. Typically, LED Neon Flex is used in signage, branding, for events (including weddings), in-home décor and in shops and restaurants. LED Neon flex can be installed in lengths of up to 15 metres and uses 15 watts per metre (24V).

An alternative to traditional neon lighting?

Neon signs are still incredibly popular and on-trend. They create a warm, welcoming look and conjure up the idea of glamorous locations such as Tokyo, the Las Vegas Strip and downtown New York.

Traditional white neon is warmer than LED Neon Flex but, as it is a more modern lighting source, white LED Neon Flex creates a brighter feel.

LED Neon Flex is suitable for both interior and exterior purposes and, as a result, is commonly used as an alternative to traditional neon signage. Traditional glass neon can be fragile so, if you run a nightclub, bar or restaurant, LED Neon Flex could be the perfect solution for bespoke lighting.
